IS THIS YOUR CHILD?

ADD & ADHD*

Did you know that students spend 45% of a typical school day listening, and 85% of their knowledge is gained through listening?

You may feel like you're constantly repeating information for your child (they aren't paying attention). Your child may not be able to keep up with the teacher or take in information inaccurately. Sometimes they may compensate in class by staying quiet and hoping they will be ignored; othertimes children can revert to becoming the class 'hero". If your child can be described as "spacy" or unfocused, if your child has trouble sitting still in school - your child may be at-risk of falling behind in school.

While inattentive ADD is considered to be a behavioural disorder, in most cases it is the symptom of a processing or cognitive delay.

Many children who have trouble with focus and attention don't process information efficiently, which is an impediment to accurate listening and reading. Fast ForWord builds processing skills, which in turn improves attention.

After using Fast ForWord, parents report their children can:

  • Listen accurately and efficiently. Children can take in oral information accurately and keep up with the speaker, focusing on what is important and not the distractions.
  • Pay attention and stay on task. Children can work independently and complete homework with less help.
  • Follow multi-step directions. Can follow along in class such as when the teacher says, "Take out your history books, read chapter 4, answer questions 1 and 2 now and complete question 3 tonight".
  • Read better and understand more. They are able to decode better and read more fluently turning reading into a pleasure instead of a painful task.
*There is an important difference. Inattentive ADD as a “condition” is typically treated with medicene, while inattentive ADD as a symptom can be resolved permanently by tackling the underlying causes of the symptom, the cognitive delays (weak memory, inaccurate listening, slow processing, poor reading skills and an inability to sequence or follow directions).

“This really helped my daughter. She passed her first attention test ever after working through this program. She was sad when she 'graduated' from Fast ForWord”
